It was hard to predict where the fireworks shells will burst - high up in the sky or lower? So I had to constantly adjust my tripod and missed out on catching a couple of good ones. This was one of the pictures that turned out rather well though the city skyline is rather dimmed. The rest were cut off or over exposed. Maybe I should buy the filters next time....

ah that time of the year in Japan - summer! lots of fireworks all over! must admit that the fireworks i've seen in Japan are by far the best in the world!
congratulations on capturing this one! it's never easy to capture them well
this one looks reminds me of a flower! no wonder the Japanese calls it hana-bi!

@Craiger: Try using the bulb mode also. And ND filters will help to cut down on over-exposure when you use slower shutter speed to capture the pattern - a tip from my friend.
I love the colours! I prefer this to the one before. Nicely taken! woot!

your tripod adjusting paid off. This is a great burst. I had a dream the last two nights with fireworks. One of them was over a skyline like this one. Thanks for helping bring the dream into a visual reality.
