Becoming a maiko-san

My friends are in the picture. They were in the process of becoming a "maiko". Not a real maiko though (that would take years of training), but just for a photo shoot in a studio. I have more pictures from this series and I will post them up from time to time.

wonderful capture! especially the exposed and whitened neck and back :)

i once watched a documentary on geishas and maikos... it was interesing to note that the exposed whitened neck/back are done with a purpose...to bring forth sensuality... it seems that's how Japanese would view it... is it true? :)

I am not a geisha expert but I read somewhere once that the back (shoulders and below) is considered very sexy, that is why the scoop at the back is low.
